The Pioneer of the Year award is given to entrepreneurs born abroad who have succeeded in developing a growth company. The award is presented by Almi IFS. The judges gave the following explanation for their decision:

“With the successful merger of the diligence of the researcher and the vision of the entrepreneur, Mikael Kubista has succeeded in creating an exciting company which is expanding its operations to countries which include the Czech Republic, where the foundations of his own genes can be found."

The business concept of TATAA Biocenter includes the development and validation of molecular biology tests for agents such as pharmaceutical companies and hospital laboratories.

"Therefore, we often attract attention only internationally in the industry as 95 per cent of our customers are abroad. So it is wonderful to receive this award," says Mikael Kubista, founder and CEO of the company.

As a representative of Region West, TATAA Biocenter will be travelling to Stockholm in October for the opportunity to be named Pioneer of the Year for Sweden as a whole.
