The motivation behind the nomination of Claes Lindahl and his concept states: Easy-to-use and innovative product which makes sun tanning safe for both adults and children. The product will warn you of overexposure to UV radiation on time.
Sunburn is a high risk factor for skin cancer in the future, a disease which currently accounts for huge medical costs and entails extensive human suffering.
Intellego Technologies
is an incubator company within Sahlgrenska Science Park and develops wristbands which change colour when it is time to reapply sun protection or make your way to the shade. “We are now in the process of developing UV wristbands which suit different skin types and aim to launch next summer," says Claes Lindahl who got the idea after burning himself in the sun on several occasions. He is pleased and proud of the attention and hopes to inspire more youths to have the courage to believe in their ideas and contribute to Sweden's development, in accordance with the objectives of the SKAPA Foundation.
All the nominated inventors are participating in the national finale for the SKAPA scholarship which will be decided on 11 October.
