“S-Cut" - An outstanding tool
“The S-Cut 06-501 was selected because we wanted an award that could be used to assist the medics in the provision of care in the pre-hospital setting. The S-Cut was identified as an outstanding tool that would assist with the rapid extrication of accident victims and with removal of clothing. We also provided a holster so the recipients could carry them on their belts", says Beverly Weaver, Director, Emergency Services at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital."

“A Cut Above"
The award is called “A Cut Above" indicating that they are outstanding amongst other pre-hospital care providers.  It is the first time this award is being given, and it is hoped to be repeated annually.  The initial awards were given in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of 9/11. 

Huge ceremonial success
“The ceremony was a huge success, attended by the recipients in dress uniforms accompanied by their administrators and families.  We also planted a maple tree in the honor of those who lost their lives on that day, with special emphasis on remembering the 343 firefighters, paramedics and 60 police officers who died in the rescue attempt," concludes Beverly Weaver.
