Lena Blomberg awarded "Diamantpriset 2011"
Diamantpriset is a price established by SNITTS and VINNOVA to promote and price a person who has done something valuable to Swedish technology transfer. Lena Blomberg, Executive Chairperson of GöteborgBIO, received the award for her dedicated and inventive work of initiating the first verification programme in Sweden.
Lena received the award at a gala ceremony in Stockholm, which took place at the Elite Hotel Marina Tower on September 7th.

Initiative of crucial importance to invention
The jury motivated the choice of Lena Blomberg with the following words:

“Lena initiated the first verification programme in Sweden. This programme is of crucial significance to university-based invention and has proven its functionality and shown that the identified needs were as expected.

This initiative has been followed by other programmes such as VINN Verification and initiatives from ALMI aimed at companies. The programme, which is regional, is the first of its kind in Sweden and probably anywhere in the world, only individual institutions such as MIT and Stanford having previously established similar initiatives.

Innovationsbron´s nationwide verification programme is a direct copy of Lena´s programme. Lena has additionally shown a good understanding of the challenges in tech transfer by working in the difficult space that exists between academia and business, and has supported initiatives in academia as well as in businesses to bridge this space."

Annual Award
Diamantpriset was handed out for the first time in 2010 and then given to Hans Wigzell. Nominations can be handed in all year around.
