Gold Medallion Award for Professor Tomas Albrektsson
Tomas Albrektsson receives the Gold Medallion Award from the American Prosthodontic Society. He has also been elected honorary member of the British Society for Specialist Prosthodontic Disciplines.
Honory member
The British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry  (BSSPD)is one of the oldest societies for specialized dental practitioners in the UK. On its website, the society states that they are very pleased that Tomas Albrektsson joined, him being an internationally recognized researcher in osseointegration.

- To become an honorary member of an old English company that BSSPD feels very gratifying for my part, partly because I have very warm feelings for England since I stayed there a lot during my early teens, but also because I have been chosen for this honor without being a dentists, says Professor Tomas Albrektsson, head of the Department of Biomaterials, Sahlgrenska Academy, at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Gold Medallion Award
Tomas Albrektsson has also received  The Gold Medallion Award. It is the premier scientific award from the American Prosthodontic Society, an international organization of dentists who are interested in replacing lost teeth.

- This fall, I will also give my 1,000 th lecture as invited speaker. It will be in late October in Tokyo, and will involve experimental and clinical results of implants with nano-surfaces, says Tomas Albrektsson.
