BioNordum picks up two awards from Venture Cup Väst

BioNordum from GIBBS took third prize and the special Food & Health award.
On April 29, in the presence of a packed auditorium, BioNordumexternal link, opens in new window received the Venture Cup Väst award of 50,000 SEK. In the words of the jury: “This idea is entirely right for its time and offers immense potential. A well thought-out business plan with considerable natural growth for both the company and its customers."  
 
Rewarded twice over
BioNordum was also awarded a prize for the best Food & Health project, receiving another 50,000 SEK in consulting services from the Food & Health Concept Center external link, opens in new windowand in scholarships. BioNordum thus went home with a total of 100,000 SEK.

Green transition in focus
BioNordum develops biological fungicides for the agricultural industry and is launching a natural, safe, eco-suitable and sustainable product that effectively combats grey mould, one of the world´s most serious plant diseases. This product will eventually be able to replace the toxic chemicals that are in current use.

All of this year´s Venture Cup Väst winners featured a green trend in their plans. Sustainable growth is also something that Venture Cup wishes to support.

Several entries originating from GIBBS
Of the total of thirteen companies nominated for the final in Venture Cup Väst, another three in addition to BioNordum originate from GIBBS; Auremuneexternal link, opens in new window, which is developing the world´s first preventive allergy treatment, Traccine Pharmaceuticalsexternal link, opens in new window which is developing the world´s first vaccine against Chlamydia and Simplexiaexternal link, opens in new window whose business idea encompasses a vaccine against genital herpes.
 
GIBBS supplies tomorrow´s entrepreneurial leaders
BioNordum traces its roots to the Göteborg International Bioscience Business School, GIBBS,external link, opens in new window a joint initiative by Chalmers University of Technology, University of Gothenburg and Sahlgrenska Academy. GIBBS was created in close cooperation with the regional health care organisation and biotech/pharmaceutical companies and provides tomorrow's entrepreneurial leaders with the skills and support they need to succeed.

Other award-winners
Tenroc Technologies secured the first prize of 200,000 kronor. Second prize of 100,000 kronor and the Environment and Energy Award went to Customized Carbon 3D Fabrics. Construcycle won in the Social Entrepreneurship category.
