GU Holding´s open competition for female researchers at the University of Gothenburg
Welcome to participate in GU Holding´s open competition solely for female researchers at the University of Gothenburg; a competition that aims to stimulate and promote female entrepreneurship.
 
Deadline for submitting applications is 24th September, 2009!
 
Award: Cheque for 30 000 SEK to be used to offset hourly consultancy fees!
By submitting proposals for new concepts that have the potential to be commercially viable, you are being given the opportunity to develop one of the concepts from your research that will solve a universal need in society, or that may become a new product/service in a commercial market. The ultimate goal is to support the development of innovative concepts originating from your research for new or improved products or services, thereby initiating the first step towards making the products and services available in the market and ensuring they can be beneficial to society. GU Holding is organizing this competition for female researchers at the University of Gothenburg in conjunction with Gothenburg University´s Unit for Research and Innovative Service and Sahlgrenska Science Park.

The project is co-funded by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, which has been given a mandate by the government to run the programme "Women in Business". The aim of this programme is to stimulate entrepreneurship among women, thereby contributing to increased employment and economic growth in Sweden. Region Västra Götaland has been commissioned to coordinate the project during 2009.

In addition to this competition, there will also be a competition for male researchers at the University of Gothenburg; the award being a cheque for 25 000 SEK to be used to offset hourly consultancy fees. Applications should be submitted to GU Holding. The task force will then select the concept that, in their opinion, is most likely to have commercial potential or the potential to benefit society as a whole.
