VINNOVA funds research and development projects in small and medium-sized companies through Forska&Väx. The total annual investment is SEK 120 million.  Companies can apply for three types of funding: implementation of R&D projects, preliminary studies ahead of R&D projects and identification of needs prior to R&D projects. The companies themselves have to contribute at least the same amount of money towards the funding of their R&D projects.

In the first round of Forska&Väx this year, 69 small businesses are receiving total funding of SEK 80 million.  Three hundred and eight proposals for a combined sum of SEK 420 million were received.
