Success for Swedish researchers in European focus on nanomedicine
The European ERA-net programme for nanomedicine, EuroNanoMed, has decided to finance eight research and development projects, an investment valued at 17 million euros.
The Chalmers University of Technology, with Professor Paul Gatenholm leading the way, is managing one of the eight projects for which the funds have been granted. Behind the investment are 24 financiers, with Sweden being represented by the Swedish Research Council and VINNOVA. The programme finances research cooperation between academia, clinical services and industry in the field of nanomedicine.

"Swedish applicants have been very successful in this call for proposals and it underscores the immense potential of Swedish research in the field of nanomedicine," says Eva Pålsgård, VINNOVA, member of the EuroNanoMed steering committee.

Additional support in the field of nanomedicine in Sweden has been granted to a project at Linköping University and another at Umeå University, among other recipients.

EuroNanoMed — a European network
Joint calls for proposals for financiers in various countries, known as the ERA-net (European Research Area network), is one of the EU Commission´s instruments for financing research cooperation. The Swedish Research Council and VINNOVA participate in EuroNanoMed in order to further cooperation in the fast-growing field of nanomedicine research.
