SEK 300 000 to gastro- and intestinal research
For the first time ever the new Gastro- and Intestine Fund gives out scholarships to scientists within the gastroenterological area. The first scholars shares 300 000 SEK.
Among the scholars is Iris Posserud at the Gastro Department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Göteborg. She receives the funds for her research on Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
The aim with the Gastro- and Intestine Fund is to promote independent research within the gastro- and intestine area with focus on boosting young Swedish scientists. The fund started with the Swedish gastro intestine association (Svensk Gastroenterologisk Förening), the national association for gastro and intestine patients (Riksförbundet för Mag- och Tarmsjuka), and the healthcare company Abbott Scandinavia.
The scholarship funds originated from the sales of the cook book “Mat med Magkänsla" (‘food with gastro consideration´), a project supported by the organisations and companies mentioned above.
