“The researchers are constantly pushing the envelope to find new methods of preventing and treating these serious conditions, and the research grant from the Heart-Lung Foundation considerably increases their chances of succeeding," says Staffan Josephson, General Secretary of the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation.
Thanks to its highly successful fundraising this year, the Heart-Lung Foundation is able to give grants totalling 153 million SEK to the country´s leading heart, lung and vascular disease researchers. This is an increase of 13 million over last year. The funds are earmarked for research that may save lives and provide better treatment for people affected by conditions such as myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke and COPD.
The Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation was founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis (TB). Today the fund´s aim is to conquer heart, lung and vascular diseases. The Foundation raises and distributes money for research and provides information about heart and lung diseases. The fund receives no state aid and the operation is entirely dependent on donations from private individuals and companies. Money can be donated to the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation via Post Giro 90 91 92-7 and via Bank Giro 909-1927.
