A million Swedish crones for medical development projects in Göteborg
Altogether around 50 applications were received, and among the seven chosen to share the grant money is GraftCraft, owned by the research scientists Erney Mattsson and Torbjörn Lundh. GraftCraft´s research is aimed at developing initial treatment for arterial aneurysms.
"This grant makes it possible to continue development of the company´s product and prepare it for commercialisation," say Mattson and Lundh.
GraftCraft has two more medical projects in its portfolio, and one of them involves a new vascular graft that bears the working name "Little Y". These two projects will undergo further development during the year, and preparations are in place for the company to outsource its future production to an established unit inWestern Sweden .
The other six research projects are focused on the following specialist fields:
Immune blockade of autoimmune diseases
Ortoma — the intervertebral disc prosthesis of the future
Interdisciplinary cooperation to solve absorption problems with promising substances in oncology
Verification of a hyperthermal microwave system
Treatment of advanced renal cancer with NC001
PORENIX — nanotechnology for advanced filtration and bioseparation

The organisations involved are AstraZeneca, Business Region Göteborg, Chalmers, the UniversityofGothenburg, Innovationsbron Väst, Mölnlycke Health Care, Nobel Biocare and Västra Götaland Region . Financial and operational support is obtained from Vinnova (the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems) through the Vinnväxt programme.
