Göteborg-based companies nominated for the 2010 Grand Export Award
Vitrolife and Carmel Pharma two of the six nominated companies
The award is presented by the Swedish Trade Council to a Swedish company that has shown strong export growth in recent years and achieved success on multiple markets. His Majesty the King of Sweden will present the award when the winner is announced at City Hall in Stockholm on April 19. Bertil Vallien from Orrefors Kosta Boda designed the award that will be presented to the winner. Two of the nominated companies are based in Göteborg and they are also the only two candidates representing the field of biomedicine.

Vitrolife
Vitrolife develops, manufactures and sells advanced products and systems for preparation, cultivation and storage of human cells, tissue and organs. The company operates within three main product areas: Fertility, Transplantation and Stem Cell Cultivation.

Carmel Pharma
Carmel Pharma manufactures Pha Seal, a closed-system for handling of dangerous drugs for intravenous use. The biggest application area is for chemotherapy in cancer treatment, and customers consist mainly of hospital pharmacies and oncology nurses at cancer clinics.
