The company, which is an incubator within Sahlgrenska Science Park, is now receiving funding through joint investment from SEED Capital, DTU Symbion Innovation and Sahlgrenska Science Park. Financing needs for the industrial process have thus been secured and the aim is to launch the monitoring system in 2011.
Observe Medical has applied for a patent. There is considerable market potential and in Sweden alone, this business area has a turnover of more than 20 million kronor a year, representing about one percent of the world market.
Observe Medical Nordic is developing its digital monitoring technology in cooperation with clinics in Göteborg, Stockholm and Skåne, where the prototype was given a very positive reception. Kidney function is a vital parameter in intensive care. Other parameters such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and so on are already monitored digitally.
“We feel that the market is ready for digital monitoring of kidney function and our technology opens up the possibility of obtaining more data from the patient´s urine," says Mikael Charléz.
